1. Purpose of This Document
This document describes the identity verification procedures that apply to accounts registered with Moose Jaw. The purpose of these procedures is to confirm that each account holder is who they claim to be, that they meet the minimum age requirement to participate in online gambling in their province or territory, and that the account is used in accordance with applicable Canadian anti-money-laundering obligations.
Identity verification is a mandatory compliance function. It is not optional, and access to certain account features may be restricted until verification is complete.
2. Legal Basis
Moose Jaw operates within the Canadian regulatory environment, which includes both provincial gambling oversight and federal obligations administered by the Financial Transactions and Reports Analysis Centre of Canada (FINTRAC) under the Proceeds of Crime (Money Laundering) and Terrorist Financing Act (PCMLTFA). These frameworks require that operators confirm the identity of account holders in connection with specified activities and transactions.
Provincial gambling regulation and federal anti-money-laundering regulation are separate systems with distinct requirements. Moose Jaw complies with obligations arising from both where applicable.
3. When Verification Is Required
Moose Jaw may request identity documents at any of the following points:
- At the time of account registration or shortly after
- Before processing a withdrawal request
- When an account reaches a specified transaction threshold
- When account details are changed, including name, address, or payment information
- When a risk indicator or compliance trigger requires enhanced review
- At any point determined necessary by the compliance team
Verification may be requested more than once if circumstances change or if additional documentation is needed to complete a review.
4. Information and Documents Required
4.1 Standard Identity Verification
To verify identity, Moose Jaw requires documentation that confirms full legal name, date of birth, and current residential address. Acceptable government-issued identity documents include:
- Canadian passport
- Provincial or territorial driver’s licence
- Permanent resident card
- Canadian citizenship card or document bearing a photograph
The document must be valid, legible, and issued by a recognized Canadian authority. Expired documents are not accepted.
4.2 Proof of Address
If the identity document does not confirm the current residential address, a separate proof of address may be required. Acceptable documents include a recent utility bill, bank statement, or government correspondence issued within the past 90 days and displaying the account holder’s full name and address.
4.3 Payment Method Verification
In certain circumstances, Moose Jaw may request confirmation that the account holder is the authorized holder of the payment method associated with the account. The specific documentation required depends on the payment method type and will be communicated directly to the account holder.
4.4 Source of Funds
Where required by applicable compliance obligations or where a risk review indicates it is necessary, Moose Jaw may request information about the source of funds used in the account. This may include employment records, bank statements, or other financial documentation.
5. How to Submit Documents
Documents must be submitted through the secure channel specified by Moose Jaw at the time of the request. Identity documents should not be sent to unverified email addresses or through third-party platforms not designated by the service.
Submitted files must be clear, complete, and unaltered. Cropped, edited, or partially obscured documents will not be accepted and may result in delays or account restrictions.
6. Processing Timeframes
Moose Jaw aims to complete standard identity verification reviews within a reasonable timeframe following receipt of all required documents. Complex cases or requests for additional information may extend this period. Account holders will be notified if further documentation is needed.
Account features that depend on completed verification remain restricted until the review is finalized.
7. Data Handling and Retention
Documents and personal information submitted for verification purposes are processed in accordance with Moose Jaw’s Privacy Policy. Data is used solely for compliance, identity confirmation, fraud prevention, and related legal purposes.
Moose Jaw retains verification records for the period required by applicable law and regulatory guidance. Records are not retained beyond the legally required period unless there is a specific legal basis to do so.
Personal data submitted during verification is not sold to third parties. It may be shared with regulated third-party verification service providers, regulatory authorities, or law enforcement where required by law.
8. Account Restrictions During Verification
If a verification request is outstanding, Moose Jaw may apply restrictions to the account. These restrictions may include suspension of withdrawal processing, limits on account activity, or temporary suspension of the account pending completion of the review.
Restrictions are lifted once verification is successfully completed. If verification cannot be completed due to insufficient or unacceptable documentation, Moose Jaw reserves the right to close the account in accordance with its Terms and Conditions.
9. Refusal and Account Closure
Moose Jaw reserves the right to decline account registration or close an existing account if identity verification cannot be completed satisfactorily. In such cases, any eligible balance will be returned to the account holder through a method determined by Moose Jaw, subject to applicable legal and compliance requirements.
10. Contact
Questions about the verification process or the status of a pending review should be directed to Moose Jaw support through the official channel listed on the Contact page of this website. Sensitive documents should not be shared through unofficial channels.
